In her latest piece, "Joy Enjoy Joy," Belgian star choreographer Ann Van den Broek explores the melancholy regions of pleasant but past memories. "Joy Enjoy Joy" follows the flow of life, down-to-earth and dynamic. It is a steady, driving and pulsating stream that moves continuously and never stops. A stream that shimmers like reflecting light. A glamorous dream, restless and full of energy. "Joy Enjoy Joy" shows a transition: accusations and reproaches, regrets and unsustainable desires are put aside. On the way to comfort and security, for an eternally restless soul, desire transforms into deep love and resistance into acceptance. "Joy Enjoy Joy" thereby blurs the boundaries between different disciplines with the combination of movement, music, lyrics and video characteristic of the work of Van den Broek's company WArd/waRD. The choreographer was inspired, among other things, by the body language of Tom Barman, frontman of the Belgian band dEUS. Quotes from him, taken from a conversation during the research phase, are also woven into the piece, complemented by the singing voice of Gregory Fraateur.
