We will focus on the technique and vocabulary of breaking, familiarizing ourselves with the basic steps and fundamental concepts. We will explore ourselves in different movements and fluid transitions. In a playful atmosphere, we will let our creativity run free together with improvisational tasks.
Pihla Jaala is a dancer, educator and social worker from Finland. She currently lives in Frankfurt am Main and studies in the master's program for contemporary dance pedagogy (MA CoDE, HFMDK, Frankfurt). Out of an interest in exploring the body's ability to transform, she trained in contemporary dance and graduated in Finland in 2023. Rooted in breakdance and contemporary dance, she seeks an awareness of the body as a complex structure and creative resource through improvisation and somatic movement research. Pedagogically, she is curious about the body's ability to embody images and communicate experiences. Pihla is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration to create sustainable and accessible communities and explore togetherness in artistic and pedagogical processes.
