In her new creation Vanishing Place, Luna Cenere designs a conscious practice of hiding and revealing in a choreographic research process. By creating space and emptiness in the dancers inside, Cenere makes them disappear and at the same time allows the gestures of the body to emerge. Concentrating on the space between the bodies, she creates - supported by light gestures, architectural elements and the composition of aspecific soundscapes - a surrealistic landscape. In doing so, Cenere bridges history, personal and collective memory, and the present moment.
The Italian dancer and choreographer received a diploma in contemporary dance from the Centro Nazionale di Produzione della Danza in Naples and continued her training at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SAED). As part of her dance career, she has attended international festivals such as ImPulsTanz and the Venice Biennale. In 2016 she became a member of the Virgilio Sieni Company (Italy) in projects such as La Mer and Il Cantico dei Cantici. For her multi-award winning 2017 choreography Kokoro, she was invited to the 2019 NID New Italian Dance Platform and selected among the Aerowaves Twenty18 Artists, among others. Further creations followed with Twin (2018), Pneumatika (2018) and Zoé (2021), among others.
