The one and a half year residency extension of choreographer Marc Brew comes to an end. The Scottish-based choreographer is one of the pioneers in the field of "Mixed Abilities" in dance and has collaborated with Tanzplattform Rhein-Main in a series of projects. He presented his piece "Roots Above the Ground", developed for the AXIS DANCE COMPANY, at the 2021 Rhei-Main dance festival in Frankfurt and began a collaboration with fellow choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Now Marc Brew has developed a choreography for the dancers of the Hessisches Staatsballett, which will premiere as a double bill with a work by Martin Harriague on June 11, 2022. Frenchman Martin Harriague is influenced by his dance home in Israel with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company and is currently a resident artist with Malandain Ballet Biarritz. Both choreographers address the issue of climate change in their pieces. For the piece "exisTence" by Marc Brew, they wrote their own musical composition. With video projections and a costume designer from the film industry, the evening promises to be a sophisticated piece not only in terms of dance, but also multimedia.
T-Talk, the conversation format of the Hessian State Ballet, around topics from the world of dance!
Moderator Lucas Herrmann is pleased to broadcast the first T-Talk from the foyer of the Staatstheater Darmstadt on April 29! This time, with the dramaturge/dance educator Lina Zehelein and the dancer and choreographer Marc Brew, there are again two exciting guests at the start. With a view to the Darmstadt "All Inclusive" Festival, which this year had to virtually open its doors on April 27 due to the pandemic situation, the two guests talk about the topic of "inclusion", among other things.
The T-Talk can be viewed via the following link (there were sound problems at the beginning, Marc can be heard from minute 5 onwards):
