Groundmovement by Lukas Robitschko was born out of 20 years of passion for movement and the urge to move as freely and fluidly as possible on the floor. The patterns are defined movement systems. They consist of movements in both directions and a transition that connects the two directional sequences with each other. The purpose of these patterns is to be used across styles - breaking, hip hop, contemporary. During their development, they were broken down into their "rawest" form. As a result, they function as a kind of tool and can be integrated into the different dance and movement areas and can be highly individualized. The basic idea behind the training is to learn and acquire the patterns. Then these patterns are combined with one another and broken up again through the application of methodical and playful concepts, modified, decomposed and reconnected in order to open up new paths and thus systematically create freedom in movement on the floor.
1. What skills are we training in Groundmovement?
The skills we working in Groundmovement are the methodical/playful development of movements, the sustainable understanding of movement on the ground, to enhance the personal creativity and building confidence in order to move freely and fluidly on the ground.
2. Once we have trained the shorter movement patterns, will the class build into longer phrases of movement or dancing?
The target of Groundmovement is not to create a choreography or fixed phrase but more to unlock as many transitions and connection between the movements we will work on in order to improvise and move freely with those techniques.
