In this forum, I offer a framework for negotiating brutalities that can occur in cultural mediation with children and young people, outside of society's understanding of norms. Where do we practice unintentional brutality on those to whom we have a duty to teach and protect?

In the forum, after an input/experience report from my work in performance and pedagogy, we will jointly develop attitudes that critically classify violent aspects in cultural mediation in order to progressively develop our mediation work.

In this case, brutality means: intersectionally linked effects of structural oppression in various areas (racism, sexism, ableism, etc.). Brutality works through a “power of definition” over people affected by structural oppression, which those who benefit from structural oppression appropriate in order to define and evaluate (or devalue) the “others” (who do not correspond to a white, male understanding of the norm) according to their own understanding of the norm

I have been working in Frankfurt since 2018 between spoken theater, dance, performance and audio production and am active in dance/theater pedagogical projects with children, young people and adults.

My work is characterized by the critical examination of structural oppression. I conduct interdisciplinary research into the transformative potential of the performing arts

The Dance Education Forum is a mixed format consisting of a lecture, a practical example and discussion. The format is aimed at teachers, educators, artists, teachers, mediators and other interested parties.
