Gran Bolero by Jesús Rubio Gamo is inspired by Maurice Ravel's Bolero. Six dancers each from Madrid and Barcelona deal with the piece of music written in 1928, an orchestral translation of a traditional Spanish dance.

Gran Bolero is a work about the effort and joy of resistance; an obstinate choreography about the fine line between pleasure and exhaustion, a dance to celebrate the time and space we share. At the same time, through the power of dance, the piece tells of unity and solidarity in times of crisis and is an ode to hope and dance. Lightness struggles with gravity. Starting from the music of Ravel (Bolero), choreographer Rubio Gamo goes back to traditional Spanish dance, to the traces of collective memory: a past on whose foundation the present is created.
