For anyone who wants to get to know hip hop as a dance style and cultural movement - even without previous experience. Frankfurt dancer and choreographer Lulia Ghirmay, part of the “Déjavu” crew, invites you to a two-hour workshop that teaches more than just “moves”.
Lulia teaches choreographic basics, gives insights into the history and meaning of street styles - and shows how hip hop has been dealing with social and political issues in a resistant way since its beginnings. Of course, there will also be plenty of opportunity to dance together: you will develop a small choreography and can try your hand at freestyle - without any pressure to perform and with plenty of room to join in and create.
Lulia has been an important figure in the German hip-hop dance scene for 16 years.
She is part of the crews “Déjàvu” - one of the first all-female crews in Germany - and “Fusion Art” and has made a name for herself with her unique, abstract dance style.
She has helped shape a new generation of dancers in Frankfurt, has been involved in many international projects and has had a lasting influence on the German hip hop scene.
