Ballroom culture was founded in New York starting in the 1970s by the African-American and Latinx trans and drag community to free themselves from the many prejudices and violence in everyday life. With the so called "Ballroom Scene" they created their own community, in which they still encourage each other in their vision of a better life and share their experiences with each other and compete with each other in so-called "Balls". Ballroom is an interdisciplinary performance art, which is often underestimated in its potency, complexity and artistic level. The way of presenting and performing is composed of dance and movements, from movements to extravagant fashion creations, djing, beatmaking and chanting. All these creative influences and expressions are closely connected, and can only be found in their uniqueness in Ballroom. The goal of this professional training is to learn more about Ballroom and Voguing, and to develop an understanding and to develop an understanding that this culture and each movement is connected to much more than first appears.
